Position as Associate Professor in Political Science (Japan)

The Department of Sociology and Political Science is now accepting applications for a tenured position as associate professor in political science specialising in Japan.
For the time being there are 70 people employed at the Department, including 23 professors and 6 adjunct professors.
Main work tasks connected with the available position:
Lead the Japan Programme at the NTNU and take part in the activities of the programme such as teaching, seminars for private industry, student exchange and research cooperation with universities in Japan.
The associate professor is expected to assume a regular teaching load and to carry out work with respect to examinations without additional compensation. The associate professor has a right and a duty to conduct research within his/her field, and is also expected to take on some administrative duties. As an average the associate professor's research time and teaching load should be equivalent.
Qualifications of applicant:
- High level competence in Japanese (language)
- Hold a PhD
- Work experience within research and teaching activities, preferably (also) on other East Asian countries in addition to Japan
Applicants are not required to speak Norwegian, as many of the courses held at Norwegian universities are taught in English. However, NTNU requires that within three years the employee must have acquired a certain level of competence in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language.
Applicants deemed most qualified will be asked to come for an interview and to hold a sample lecture or another test to demonstrate pedagogic qualifications.
Salary
NOK 30,716 ($4,300) 45,483 ($6,368) per month (before tax deduction), depending on qualifications/ seniority. From this, 2% for public pension will be deduced.

- Scientific work (published or not) that the applicant would like to count in the assessment of the application (maximum 10 pieces of work), together with a list of the work that is enclosed.
-A brief review of what piece(s) of scientific work that the applicant considers as the most important ones, and that he/she would like to be given particular attention to in the assessment process.
-A list of all the (scientific) work accomplished by the applicant, also giving details on publications.
